Where I live: A city by the sea, which was once the only port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. A city where many different cultures once lived together, and a point of contact between Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean.

The kind of books I write: I write stories of different lengths and formats, from picture books to YA novels. I'm interested in the feelings between people, in nature and mysterious events. I like irony but also noir.

Languages my books have been translated into: My books have been published in France; opera librettos I have adapted for young readers have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese, and published in many countries.

My favourite foreign children’s writers: David Almond, Guus Kui¡er, Jutta Richter, Angela Nanetti, Adam Gidwitz, Anne Fine, Roald Dahl
