Sgardoli Guido

sgardoliguidoAuthor: Sgardoli Guido
Where I live: Not far from where I was born: Venice, a city like no other in the world, to which I dedicated one of my most successful novels.

The kind of books I write: I’ve written for kids, teens and adults. I don’t pay much attention to the age of my future readers. I believe that if a story is a good story, then it is worth writing it and soon or later it will find the right readers. I prefer universal and unchangeable themes: William Faulkner’s Old Universal Truths.

Languages my books have been translated into: French, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Turkish, Portuguese, Chinese.

Awards and Prizes: Bancarellino 2009; Andersen 2009, best writer; LiBeR 2012, best book of the year, The Frozen Boy (San Paolo Edizioni); IBBY Honour List 2012.

My favourite foreign children’s writers: David Almond, Neil Gaiman, Roald Dahl.
