Piumini Roberto

Where I live: I live in Milan, a city I don’t love much and which I like to get away from. I also own a house in Tuscany, but a lovely landscape is not everything. My other hideaways are on the Bologna Apennines, my homeland, or along the shore of the Tyrrehnian sea. As you can see, I’m quite restless.

The kind of books I write: Rhymes, verses, epic poems, tales, short stories, novels, play scripts, lyrics for opera and choirs, scripts. My audience is both young and adult. I’ve translated poetry from English to Italian, all texts that required a special care for metrics and linguistic efficacy, by authors like Roald Dahl, Shakespeare, Browning, Milton.

Languages my books have been translated into: Spanish (Spain, Venezuela, Mexico), Serbian, Japanese, Dutch, Korean, Albanian, French, Greek, Slovenian, American English, German, Chinese, Norwegian, Portuguese, British English, Turkish.

Awards and Prizes: Premio Bancarellino, Premio Cento, Premio Andersen.

My favourite foreign children’s writers: Roald Dahl, Mark Twain, Astrid Lindgren.
