Where I live: My neighbourhood in Milan is called Gratosoglio, south of the city, full of green spaces and old farms which have been renovated and where you can buy bio meat and natural products. With a few thrusts on the pedal I can reach the Naviglio Pavese and when the sun comes out I usually go for a ride to the Certosa di Pavia, few miles away, a beautiful spot where time seems to stop… a pleasant reading in the shade of the cloister and then I set out again heading home!

The kind of books I write: I mainly write for pre-teens, 10+. What my books are about? Often social issues, those kind of stories that everyone can relate to, even if the actual facts are from a distant place and a different time. I like to reconstruct historical facts. My style is straightforward, no frills.

Languages my books have been translated into: Korean, Spanish, Castillano, Catalan, Basque, Portuguese (Brasil and South America), Polish.

Awards and Prizes: Premio Laura Orvieto 2011 for "Le Valigie di Auschwitz" ("The luggage of Auschwitz"), also selected by White Ravens 2012.

My favourite foreign children’s writers: Roald Dahl David Grossman J.K. Rowling.
