Del Ponte Giovanni

delponteAuthor: Del Ponte Giovanni
Where I live: I live in Turin, magic city par excellence, in a condominium on the bank of the Po, not far from where Emilio Salgari used to live. From my balcony I can see the river, the hills, the basilica of Superga. I am lucky to have great parks nearby, where I take my huge dog Shy for long walks.

The kind of books I write: I try to use a simple but not banal style, taking inspiration from Harper Lee, author of To kill a mockingbird. The Invisible series is for readers aged 11/12, Acqua Tagliente for 14 yo and above. Recurring themes in my books: environmental issues, non-violence, importance of communication between parents and children, agreement between science and spirituality.

Languages my books have been translated into: French (Belgium), Chilean, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Hungarian.

Awards and Prizes: Premio nazionale di narrativa per ragazzi Comunità Montana dell’Alto Crotonese (2003), winner of the first edition with the book Gli Invisibili e la strega di Dark Falls (The Invisibles and the Witch of Dark Falls). Premio Bancarellino 2004 with the book Gli Invisibili e il castello di Doom Rock (The Invisibles and Doom Rock castle). Premio Giovanni Arpino 2005 with the book Gli Invisibili e il castello di Doom Rock (The invisibles and Doom Rock castle).
