De Marchi Vichi

vichi-de-marchiAuthor: De Marchi Vichi
Where I live: I live in Rome, a city where the weather is never really cold and at sunset the history of the city is tinged red by the pink sun reflecting on the ancient stones. Those moments make me forget that I was born and grew up in an equally if not more beautiful city: Venice.

The kind of books I write: I write about real facts that I turn into stories and adventures. Perhaps because I’m a journalist. Sometimes I draw inspiration from a picture or someone’s life. A photot of the slums in Manila, the tales of the Italian immigrants going to America, zoologist Dian Fossey’s biography, my personal experience in a United Nation agency dealing with humanitarian emergencies. These are the stories that inspire the novels I write for readers aged between 7 and 99.

Awards and Prizes: Winner of the Premio Verghereto, the Soroptmist Internazionale, finalist of many other literary contests.

My favourite foreign children’s writers: Jerry Spinelli, Aidan Chambers e Richard Scarry.
